A collection of photographs from The Hawaii LEGO Users Group’s highly successful attendance at the weekly Honolulu Zoo’s “Wildest Show in Town” concert series as well as at the Navy Exchange “Back to School” event this summer. Looking forward to seeing everyone soon at our upcoming events and again at these events next year!

We had a blast at the Pacific Aviation Museum‘s Annual Biggest Little Airshow weekend event. There were huge crowds both days and lots of eager public LEGO builders entering our club’s contest with about 100 entries each day. It was quite an experience being set up in front of the inspiration for their emblem, the P40 Flying Tiger, at the entrance to Hangar 79 while the model airplanes swooshed by outside. Below are some pictures of our display and the contest entries.
Hawaii LEGO Users Group will be at the Pacific Aviation Museum on August 16th and 17th for their “Biggest Little Airshow” event. Come to see our club MOCs (my own creations) and join in at the free build table and contest with LEGO prizes. If you haven’t been to this event before it’s a ton of fun with model airplane and helicopter shows, a candy drop for the kids and this year they’ll be having a screening of Planes, Fire and Rescue on Saturday! We hope to see you there.
For the Honolulu Zoo’s Wildest Show in Town events this summer, Christine created a large lemur MOC mosaic to highlight the Zoo’s current fundraiser aimed at helping their ring-tailed lemurs. The mosaic was created out of over 10,000 LEGO® bricks. Detail of the tail shows use of old white bricks to create a more natural fade in parts of the fur. Pending the scheduling of the Zoo’s annual Gala event, we hope to have it auctioned off and have the profits donated to the Zoo to help benefit the Society. Special thanks to Lennette Newell for permission to use her photographic image as inspiration for this mosaic.
